Tina Bucuvalas is Director of Florida Cultural Resources, Inc. She previously served as State Folklorist/Director of the Florida Folklife Program/Florida Department of State, Curator of Arts & Historical Resources/City of Tarpon Springs, and Curator of Folklife/Historical Museum of Southern Florida. She also served as President of the Florida Folklore Society. In 2006-2007 she received a Fulbright Scholar Award for research in Greece.
Bucuvalas is the author, co-author, or editor of five books: Greek Music in America (2018), Greeks in Tarpon Springs (2016), The Florida Folklife Reader (2011), Just Above the Water: Florida Folk Arts (2004), and South Florida Folklife (1994). She has curated numerous exhibits, produced many events focusing on traditional culture, published dozens of essays, successfully nominated Traditional Cultural Properties to the National Register of Historic Places, and conducted fieldwork in the US, Greece, Cuba, Bahamas, Australia, and Mexico. She holds a Ph.D. in Folklore from Indiana University.
