A walking tour of the sights, monuments, cultural heritage sites in the historic centre of Athens.

PLEASE NOTE: This tour runs at the same time as the "GASTRO" Tour - please only register for one tour.

Our tour follows the route of the “Great Athenian Walk”, which was created through the pedestrianization of Dionysiou Areopagitou St., Apostolou Pavlou St., Adrianou St., and Ermou St., as part of development programme in the historical centre of Athens involving redevelopment and pedestrianization.

During our walk, we will enjoy the creation of an ‘open and extended museum’, which includes the large area archaeological sites and monuments of the capital of Greece and the traditional areas in the centre. In particular, we will pass through the archaeological sites of the Kerameikos, the Ancient Marketplace and the Temple of Hephaestus and Athna Ergane (today’s Theseum). We will continue to the PNYX and the Hill of Philopappus. We will walk down the lanes of the traditional listed settlement of Anafiotika, where the Museum History of the University of Athens is situated. Our tour ends at the Roman Agora and The Tower of The Winds (The Timepiece of Kyrrestos), close to the Museum of Modern Greek Culture and Monastiraki Square.
